This guide is for Dutch and Belgian nationals who want to live in Thailand for the long term without a retirement, marriage or work visa. The general Thai rules in this guide apply to all nationalities; the parts about embassies and documents are written for Dutch and Belgian passport holders, so if you hold another passport, check the requirements of the Thai embassy or consulate that serves you.

What the Thailand Privilege visa is

Thailand Privilege is not a visa you buy separately at an embassy. You take out a membership with Thailand Privilege Card Co., Ltd., according to the company a state enterprise (founded on 29 August 2003) with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) as its only shareholder. The membership gives the right to a special visa plus services.

The Thai e-Visa portal names two visa types for members, both valid for 5 years with multiple entries:

  • Privilege Entry Visa (PE): gold sticker, up to 1 year of stay per entry. This visa belongs to the packages sold since October 2023.

  • Special Entry Visa (SE): green sticker, 90 days per entry. Thailand Privilege mentions it for memberships from before October 2023.

The company also sells three memberships without a visa (Lite 9,900 baht, Lifestyle 150,000 baht and Beyond 250,000 baht, each 1 year). They give no right of stay.

Thailand Privilege packages and what they include

According to the package pages on thailandprivilege.co.th (as of 11 October 2026):

  • Bronze: 650,000 baht, 5 years, 0 privilege points a year. Visa, VIP service at the airport, the contact centre and a personal assistant at government offices once (Elite Personal Liaison).

  • Gold: 900,000 baht, 5 years, 20 points a year. VIP service at the airport, Elite Personal Liaison, an annual health check, one hotel night and personal accident cover of 180 days.

  • Platinum: 1,500,000 baht, 10 years, 35 points a year. The same items as Gold.

  • Diamond: 2,500,000 baht, 15 years, 55 points a year. As Gold, with personal accident cover of 365 days and wealth advice.

  • Reserve: 5,000,000 baht, 20 years, 120 points a year, by invitation only. As Diamond, plus a co-working space, a domestic flight and a gym.

All packages also mention fast track at passport control and help with the 90-day report, a bank account and the Thai driving licence. According to the terms (January 2026), points expire at the end of the year, the company may change or drop services without notice, and the membership cannot be transferred, not even to family.

What the visa does not give you

  • No work permit. According to Thailand Privilege, you cannot apply for a work permit with this visa. Work requires a separate Non-B visa.

  • No exemption from reporting duties. The 90-day report, TM30 and the extension still apply.

  • No refund. The membership fee is never refunded, except when the membership ends because of a government decision that stops the company from continuing.

The requirements for applicants

According to the terms and application forms of 14 January 2026:

  • A foreign passport, valid for more than 1 more year, with at least 3 blank pages.

  • All ages; under 20, a legal representative co-signs.

  • No prison sentence in any country (except for a minor offence or negligence), no bankruptcy, no arrest warrant.

  • No more than one overstay in Thailand in the last 3 years.

  • You declare that you know about the 90-day report and TM30 and that you will report to immigration after 365 days of uninterrupted stay.

  • With more than one nationality: extra documents, including on the source of the money and your place of residence in the last 6 months.

The terms do not exclude any nationality, so Dutch and Belgian nationals can apply. Since the announcement of 17 September 2024, four agencies screen every applicant: immigration, the Department of Consular Affairs, the foreign affairs division of the Thai police and the Central Investigation Bureau.

Step by step

  1. Apply through thailandprivilege.co.th or an authorised sales agent of the company, with a colour copy of your passport, a passport photo (white or blue background) and the form.

  2. Pay the application fee: 50,000 baht including VAT.

  3. Background check. The company states approval within 2 months; on 7 January 2026 it reported that the police check sometimes takes longer than 6 weeks.

  4. Pay the membership fee within the deadline on the invoice; activation within 1 week.

  5. Have the visa placed in your passport, in person: on arrival on a direct international flight at Suvarnabhumi, Phuket or Chiang Mai, at immigration Chaeng Wattana in Bangkok, or through a Thai embassy. Book at least 5 working days in advance.

For placing the visa, the extension and the 90-day report, immigration requires a Thai mobile number, according to Thailand Privilege.

The Netherlands and Belgium: applying through the embassy

According to Thailand Privilege, the visa can also be placed at a Thai embassy or consulate. The e-Visa portal (thaievisa.go.th) and the document list of the embassy in The Hague (31 August 2026) name for the SE and the PE:

  • the personal details page of the passport;

  • a passport photo no more than 6 months old;

  • a document on your current place of stay (for example tickets or a booking);

  • the confirmation letter from Thailand Privilege, valid for up to 90 days.

  • The Hague: two official sources differ. The document list of 31 August 2026 names the PE as an e-Visa. The general e-Visa conditions of The Hague (updated 11 February 2025) say that all visas go through thaievisa.go.th, "EXCEPT the Privilege Entry Visa for Thailand Elite members". Ask the embassy in The Hague in advance how it issues a PE visa, or have the visa placed in Thailand. For e-Visa applications in The Hague: only for residents of the Netherlands who are in the Netherlands during the whole application, and no more than 90 days before arrival.

  • Brussels: only for residents of Belgium and Luxembourg; applications from outside those countries or from Thailand are rejected automatically. The Brussels visa pages do not mention Thailand Privilege separately.

  • Fee: the fee lists of The Hague and Brussels (both from 15 July 2024) state no fee for the SE or PE. Ask the embassy. Visa fees paid are not refunded.

According to the terms, a family member is a parent, step-parent, spouse, registered partner or (adopted) child of the main member. The announcement of 14 August 2026 gives the offer price "until December 31, 2026"; the offer forms on the download page state 18 May to 14 August and 15 August to 30 September 2026. Ask Thailand Privilege which period applies to your application.

Time limits and deadlines

  • Extension: at the immigration office for your place of residence, up to 30 days in advance, in person (photo and fingerprints), 1,900 baht; PE holders get 1 year per application.

  • 90-day report: mandatory after 90 days of uninterrupted stay (section 37 of the Thai Immigration Act of 1979). Thailand Privilege files the report in Bangkok, Chonburi, Chiang Mai and Phuket for members with privilege points (Gold, Platinum, Diamond and Reserve), in exchange for points; Bronze (0 points) is not on that list. Outside those places, or without points, you do it yourself, online from the second report onwards.

  • TM30: Thailand Privilege does not file the address notification for you.

Common mistakes

Letting the 90-day report lapse. Thailand Privilege does not accept passports that are past the deadline; reporting late costs 2,000 baht.

Accepting a wrong entry stamp. Report an incorrect stamp at the airport straight away, otherwise an overstay can result.

Counting on a refund. If the visa or entry to Thailand is refused, the company may end the membership without a refund.

No Thai phone number. Without a Thai mobile number, immigration can refuse to place the visa, to extend your stay or to accept the 90-day report.
