Delete your account

How to delete your Sabai account: in the app, on the website or by email. You do not need to sign in to read this page.

This applies to your account on sabai.forum and in the app Sabai: Living in Thailand (in Dutch Sabai: Leven in Thailand) for Android, iPhone and iPad. The forum and the app are made by A Brand New Company. It is one account: delete it in one place and it is gone everywhere.

In the app (Android and iPhone)

  1. Open the app and tap More.
  2. Under Sabai account, tap your username.
  3. Tap Delete account.
  4. Choose Delete, keep my posts or Delete with all my posts.

It takes effect at once. After that you are signed out on that phone.

On the website

  1. Sign in on sabai.forum with the button below. You go straight to Settings.
  2. Go to Delete account, at the bottom of the page.
  3. Choose how, tick I understand that this cannot be undone and click Delete my account for good.

Without signing in

Can you no longer sign in, or do you no longer have the app? Then email info@abn.company from the email address of your account, with the subject Delete my account. Say whether your posts may stay or everything should go. Without a choice they stay under a neutral name, as in the app.

We delete your account within 7 days and email you when it is done. If your email comes from another address, we first ask you to confirm from the address of your account. That way nobody else can have your account deleted.

What goes and what stays

Delete, keep my posts

  • Goes at once: your email address and your login (nobody can sign in with this account any more), your username, display name, bio, location and profile photo, your notifications, bookmarks, followed topics, emoji reactions, favourites, saved searches, your marketplace ads, your job posts and applications, the members you blocked and the notification address of your phones.
  • Stays: your topics and replies with the photos in them and the private messages you sent, under a name like "verwijderd-x7k2pq" (Dutch for "deleted"). Nobody can link them to you any more. Reports you made stay with the moderators.

Delete with all my posts

  • Goes at once: everything above, and also your topics with the replies under them, your replies, your private conversations (including what the other person wrote in them), the photos you uploaded and the reports you made.

Either way, the moderation log stays: which step a moderator ever took on your account or your posts. It does not contain your email address. We keep it so that we can show abuse.

How long anything is kept

  • Your account is gone from the database at once.
  • Our database service Supabase makes a backup every day and keeps it for 7 days. Before a change to the database we sometimes make an extra copy; we delete it after 30 days.
  • Technical logs are deleted after 30 days.

So no later than 30 days after the deletion, your account is no longer in backups or logs either.

More about your data is in the privacy policy. Questions? Email info@abn.company.
